I want to start by acknowledging there have been a lot of changes over the last couple of years at the Pueblo Regional Center. We have taken those changes in stride and tried to see every change as an opportunity. While some changes feel more challenging than others, we are committed to improving and ensuring our care at PRC is the best possible.
I want to let you know about leadership changes at PRC during the month of June. Director Debbie Archuleta, who started at PRC in July 2015, resigned effective June 4, 2017. She has accepted a leadership role at the Colorado Mental Health Institute. As you know, Debbie has been completing special projects for PRC and DRCO over the last several months. She brought many years of nursing experience and took over during a difficult time at PRC. We want to thank Debbie for her service to PRC and DRCO over the last couple of years and wish her well as she continues to serve in CDHS.
Assistant Director Vicky Tuakoi resigned effective June 17. Vicky joined the PRC team in July 2016 and has helped implement many important changes at PRC. We are grateful for her direction and support during a difficult time. We wish her well in her next venture.
Currently, the Division for Regional Center Operations staff is providing direct management oversight to PRC leadership and managers. This support includes on-site meetings and supervision with staff, process development and implementation, as well as day-to-day requests, questions and assistance. The result of this collaboration with PRC managers and staff members has resulted in PRC successfully improving survey performance and rule compliance.
We are immediately beginning the search for new executive leadership. DRCO leadership will continue to provide hands-on support to PRC managers and staff members. We will keep you apprised of our progress in this recruiting effort.
Our number one goal is to continue to foster a positive environment for PRC staff members and residents during this time of change. In addition, we want to continue the positive operational changes PRC has made.
Thank you in advance for your support during this time. We are committed to effective and open communications with our stakeholders. Should you have any questions please do not hesitate to contact me at firstname.lastname@example.org or 303-866-2222.
